WORSHIP SERVICE

We gather together in the presence of God to worship. Our worship typically includes hymns, prayers, and Scripture readings, a sermon, and Holy Communion on two or three Sundays each month.

Lutheran belief and worship gives equal importance to “the Word” (Scripture and the sermon) and “the Sacraments” (communion and baptism)—both are central to our faith.

You will notice that you receive a bulletin when you enter the sanctuary. The first page of the bulletin provides the order of worship. The “Celebrate” insert contains prayers and scripture readings for the day.

Announcements about church activities, worship leadership, and other church news can be found in the other portions of the bulletin and in inserts. Our primary worship resource is The Lutheran Book of Worship, but occasionally other resources are used. The first Sunday of the month is normally “Folk Service Sunday.”

Holy Communion is celebrated on the first, third, and fifth (when applicable) Sundays of the month.  We receive the bread and the wine either by “table” (using separate glasses and kneeling at the altar rail) or by “intinction” (dipping the wafer into the cup of wine).
